Caitlin McCarthy — devoted educator, internationally recognized DES advocate, and celebrated screenwriter — has been added to WomensActivism.NYC, a growing archive of inspiring stories that honor women from around the world who have made a meaningful impact. Read Caitlin’s story HERE.

WomensActivism.NYC is a powerful initiative that highlights the achievements of women who have driven change — whether they are widely known or unsung heroes. These women may come from any background or era, united by one criterion: they identify as women and have contributed to making the world a better place.

Caitlin McCarthy’s inclusion in this archive is a testament to her tireless dedication across multiple arenas. From classrooms to international platforms, and from advocacy to the silver screen, her work reflects a deep commitment to education, justice, and storytelling.

Launched in 2015, WomensActivism.NYC began as part of a celebration of women’s activism tied to the Suffrage Centennial. It was created by the NYC Department of Records and Information Services to commemorate the anniversaries of women gaining the right to vote — first in New York State in 1917, and later across the United States in 1920.

Today, this digital archive continues to grow, preserving the stories of women who shape history and inspire future generations.
