Women In Film New England Screenwriting Win and Filmmaker Panel

Caitlin McCarthy’s one-hour pilot teleplay, FREE SKATE, has been named the Overall Winner of the 2025 Women in Film & Video New England (WIFVNE) Screenwriting Contest.

As the overall winner, FREE SKATE will be featured in a live Table Read at WIFVNE’s 45th Anniversary Annual Meeting & Conference at GBH Boston.

In addition, Caitlin will take part in a panel of women filmmakers at the conference. The panel will explore the journey of making and promoting films as women in an ever-evolving industry — and the lessons learned along the way.

The keynote speaker for the event is Rebecca Eaton, founding member of WIFVNE and the award-winning Executive Producer behind DOWNTON ABBEY, who led PBS’s Masterpiece to global acclaim.

WIFVNE continues to “Widen the Lens” through mentorship, networking, and education that build a more inclusive and equitable industry. Caitlin is honored to have her work recognized by an organization so dedicated to empowering storytellers.
